Share the Love!

It took some courage to dive in to this, but here we go...

The first five people to make a comment on this post will receive a free homemade gift from me sometime in the next couple of months. The catch is that you in turn must share the love and make a similar post on your blog. If I can do it, you can do it! I am not the most crafty person, but who doesn't love a package? Just remember to continue this love chain on your blog.

We'll see if 5 people sign up :)

4 months!

Mason turned four months on Thursday and went to the doctor on Friday for his checkup. The doctor said he looks great! We are weighing in at a hefty 13 lbs 1 oz and 25 inches long (although, when I took him in to the doctor a few weeks ago, they said he was 25.5 inches... shrinking? Matt has decided he is going to measure Mason himself. ha). He handled his shots like a champ - cried for less than a minute! Here is a picture of he and Dad waiting for the doctor to come (chomping on his toes) --

When we told our doc he is rolling both directions she was surprised -- she said she doesn't ask about rolling until the 6 month appointment. I know it is silly, particularly since it pretty much has nothing to do with anything we did, but it still makes you feel proud :) Anyhoo, in our spare time we're teaching him such things as how to use rolling to get toys and... mancala. Seems age appropriate, right?

Happy March everyone!

Rolling video & amnesia?

As you can see, Mason is much happier about tummy time now that he is strong and can check out the world around him. In fact, he is so happy about tummy time that he REFUSES to roll off of his tummy! Who knew that after a month of constantly rolling off his stomach he now seems to have no clue how to do it? Has anyone else had a kid forget a skill? It has been a week and a half now since Mason last rolled from his stomach to his back -- which would be OK, except he constantly rolls to his stomach and after a while he gets tired and fusses about it. Silly! Oh well, it'll be a good story to tell him when he gets older :)

Here is a video of his amazingness...

Rolling... the other way!

That's right, as of Valentines day Mason is now rolling from his back to his tummy! Unlike rolling from his tummy to his back - when I wondered if it was just a mistake or if he really knew what he was doing, Mason has been a rolling maniac since discovering the new trick. Since starting Saturday morning he has done little else - whether he is on a blanket, on the changing table, or in his crib - he is constantly trying to roll. This has resulted in non-existent naps, moving off of the blanket for the first time, and needing to be rescued from time to time -- although he knows how to roll off of his tummy, he doesn't seem to be as good at it now and sometimes will have a meltdown in his crib bc he got 'stuck' on his stomach! What a goofball! A video will be coming soon...

Valentines Cont.

Valentines week consisted mostly of me being really sick but I started feeling significantly better on Friday, thank goodness. I was hoping to have fun things all week long but we did manage to have heart shaped meatloaf, pink rice crispy treats in the shape of hershey kisses, and frosted heart shaped sugar cookies to celebrate the approaching holiday (not all at the same time... hahaa).

After Matt worked 8 hours for 'free' on Saturday (UGH. that is another story...) we had a great day together! Matt brought home roses for me (although we had agreed to forgo flowers.... stinker) and we worked together and made ourselves a gourmet meal which included steak, lobster, baked potato, and salad! (We needed a bigger plate). It was my first time ever cooking lobster... our house smelled like fish for a day, but it went well otherwise.

Afterwards, Ellie was fabulous and watched Mason for us so we could go out on a date. If you don't recall, I planned our Valentines last year and ended up with the most expensive dinner of our lives, so this year was Matt's turn.

He surprised me and took us ice skating - outdoors! There is a cute little ice rink in Midway that is under the stars and it was a blast to be out having fun together. Once we were cold & sore we headed to Zermatt to their fabulous Backerei & Eis where all dreams can come true (haha). Seriously, so good. Mmmmm. We stuffed ourselves with european pastry and then headed home for the night. We hope you had a great weekend too!
